Register Integrity Note

Superseded Terminology and Architecture Alignment

Reference: SAFECHAIN/DIR/2026/PIR-002

Purpose

The SAFECHAIN™ ecosystem has evolved substantially since the earliest governance papers. As a consequence, several early conceptual labels have been absorbed into later architecture papers and should no longer be treated as standalone frameworks.

This note formalises, as a standing governance instrument, the terminology resolutions previously recorded as individual Register notes (3k, 3m, 3n) during the verification of AAS-011 through AAS-015 and the Presentation Integrity Review (PIR-001). It is the second instrument in the PIR series and is intended to be referenced directly by future publications, rather than requiring each new paper to rediscover these resolutions independently.

Superseded Terms: Retained for Historical Reference Only

The following terms originate from early-draft architecture, prior to the Foundational Architecture Index™ and Methodology reaching their current numbered form. They are retained in the Register's history for traceability, but must not be presented as live, standalone frameworks in any new publication.

Historical Term Superseded By Current Status

Institutional Neglect™ Papers 22, 23, 24 (in combination) Where awareness of a concern existed but did not translate into effective action. Applied: AAS-013, AAS-014.

Governance Failure Is a Safeguarding Failure™ Papers 22, 23, 24 (in combination), or Paper 32 / Paper 33 depending on which pattern dominates Not yet applied under its numbered reference. Identified as superseded per the Methodology's 'Note on terminology'; awaiting first application.

Accountability Gap™ (where superseded) Paper 22 — The Accountability Paradox™ Used as AAS-011's own title for its application of Paper 22; retained in that specific context. Not used as a standalone Layer/output category beyond AAS-011.

Institutional Capture™ (where superseded) Paper 32 — The Power Paradox™ Used as AAS-012's own title for its first application of Paper 32; retained in that specific context. Not used as a standalone Layer/output category beyond AAS-012.

This list is not closed. A fourth category — "other terminology identified through ongoing Register review" — is retained deliberately: as new publications are drafted, additional early-draft terms may be identified and added to this table by future Register Integrity Notes (PIR-003 and onward), without requiring a new instrument each time a single term is resolved.

Governing Principle

Future publications should reference the relevant Foundational Architecture Index™ papers — by number and current title — rather than historical shorthand terms. Where a historical term must be mentioned (for example, in a note explaining a correction, as in AAS-014's scope note), it should be clearly identified as historical and immediately paired with its current numbered reference.

The Register remains the authoritative source for framework status. Where conflict exists between draft material and the Register, the Register position prevails.

Application

This note applies retrospectively to draft material not yet finalised, and prospectively to all future publications. It does not require revision of AAS-001 through AAS-015, the Presentation Integrity Review (PIR-001), or either presentation built from it (The SAFECHAIN™ Mechanism; the Register-Aligned Architecture Presentation), each of which already applies the resolutions this note formalises.

Draft material reviewed since PIR-001 — including material using 'Institutional Neglect™', 'Governance Failure Is a Safeguarding Failure™', or 'The Indictment™' as live doctrinal terms, and material proposing a parallel 'Knowledge Series™' naming structure ('The Source™', 'The Exposure™', 'The Remedy™', 'The Reconstruction™') not found in the Register or Methodology — falls within this note's scope and should be revised accordingly before further use. 'The Indictment™' and the four proposed Knowledge Series titles remain unverified against the canonical Index; per the same standard applied to 'Procedural Advantage™' and 'Compliance Theatre™' in PIR-001, they should not be used until verified or are otherwise marked as proposed/working titles.
