Accreditation Process™
Stage One — Application™
Organisation submits an application with supporting documentation.
Stage Two — Eligibility Review™
Confirm organisational eligibility and scope.
Stage Three — Evidence Review™
Assess policies, governance documentation, implementation evidence and performance information.
Stage Four — Independent Assessment™
Conduct interviews, observations and evidence validation.
Stage Five — Site Verification™
Where appropriate, undertake an on-site or virtual verification review.
Stage Six — Accreditation Panel™
An independent panel reviews findings and determines the accreditation outcome.
Stage Seven — Award Decision™
Award, defer or refuse accreditation based on the evidence.
Stage Eight — Improvement & Renewal™
Monitor improvement and reassess at the required renewal interval.
Accreditation Evidence™
Assessment evidence may include:

Where accreditation is deferred or declined, organisations should receive an improvement plan outlining the evidence required for reassessment.
Renewal & Surveillance™
Accreditation should remain active only where organisations continue to demonstrate compliance with SAFECHAIN™ standards.
The Framework recommends:
Annual surveillance review;
Three-year full reaccreditation;
Interim reviews where significant organisational change occurs;
Immediate review following serious governance or safeguarding failures.
Accreditation Panel™
The Accreditation Panel should comprise appropriately qualified individuals with expertise in governance, safeguarding, organisational leadership, quality assurance and institutional improvement.
Panel members should be independent of the organisation being assessed and declare any conflicts of interest.
Accreditation Mark™
Accredited organisations may be authorised to use the SAFECHAIN™ Accredited Organisation Mark™ in accordance with SAFECHAIN™ branding and licensing requirements.
The Accreditation Mark:
signifies independent recognition;
must only be used during the accreditation period;
may not be altered or misrepresented;
may be withdrawn if accreditation lapses or is revoked.
Suspension & Withdrawal™
SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation may be suspended or withdrawn where:
significant governance failures occur;
safeguarding duties are materially breached;
evidence is found to be misleading or fraudulent;
accreditation conditions are no longer met;
serious ethical or legal concerns arise.
Any suspension or withdrawal should follow a fair, documented review process.
