The SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade Gala
Unmasking Silence. Honouring Survivors. Rebuilding Safeguarding Systems.
Date & Location: 30 October 2026 | Winchester, Hampshire
Remembrance, Reflection, and Institutional Accountability

Each October, SAFECHAIN™ gathers survivors, professionals, policymakers, and supporters for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and accountability.
The Masquerade is not simply an awareness event. It is a public act of witness — honouring those who have lost their lives, safety, dignity, or voice through domestic abuse, coercive control, and institutional failure.
Behind every mask is a story. This evening exists to ensure those stories are heard, and that the systems meant to protect survivors are held to account.
Remember A candlelight remembrance honouring survivors and those whose voices were lost between institutions.
Reform A keynote address and SAFECHAIN™ vision presentation on the future of safeguarding governance in the United Kingdom.
Reconnect An elegant evening of music, conversation, and connection among those committed to structural safeguarding reform.
Sponsorship line:
Sponsorship packages are available from £250 to £10,000. If your organisation wishes to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding reform, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Awareness and Accountability
While the Masquerade is a moment of reflection, it also carries a broader purpose.
Domestic Abuse Awareness Month offers an opportunity to bring greater visibility to the realities of abuse and to encourage continued dialogue about how safeguarding systems can improve.
The SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade aims to contribute to that dialogue by highlighting the importance of:
trauma-informed institutional practice
coordinated safeguarding responses
professional accountability within legal and safeguarding systems
stronger protection pathways for vulnerable individuals.
Supporting the SAFECHAIN™ Mission
The Masquerade also serves as a moment to support the broader SAFECHAIN™ mission.
Through sponsorship, partnerships, and community engagement, the event contributes to the development of SAFECHAIN™ research, professional training programmes, and survivor empowerment initiatives.
These efforts aim to strengthen safeguarding systems and encourage more coordinated responses to risk across institutions.
The SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade reflects a simple but powerful belief:
Every life matters.
Every story matters.
Know her name.
And every institution entrusted with safeguarding responsibilities carries a duty to recognise the human consequences of its decisions.
Through remembrance, reflection, and dialogue, the SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade invites society to continue the work of building safer, more accountable systems for everyone.
Where Silence Is Acknowledged
Where stories are honoured.

SAFECHAIN™ Gala — Winchester
A Night of Remembrance, Reform, and Survivor Voice
Date: 30 October
Location: Winchester, United Kingdom
The SAFECHAIN™ Gala is an evening dedicated to reflection, remembrance, and the urgent need to strengthen safeguarding systems for survivors of domestic abuse.
This special event will bring together individuals from across the legal profession, safeguarding services, advocacy organisations, and the wider community to reflect on the challenges survivors continue to face when navigating fragmented systems.
The evening will also mark the official launch of the book Somebody, a powerful account of survival, voice, and the realities of seeking protection within complex institutional structures.
The SAFECHAIN™ Gala seeks to create a space for meaningful dialogue about how safeguarding systems can better protect victims and ensure that evidence, testimony, and lived experience are not lost within bureaucratic gaps.
This gathering is part of the wider SAFECHAIN™ mission to promote safeguarding integrity, institutional accountability, and survivor-centred reform.
Purpose of the Event
The SAFECHAIN™ Gala has three central aims:
• To honour the voices of survivors who have fought to be heard.
• To bring attention to the systemic gaps that continue to affect safeguarding outcomes.
