INDEP-001 - INDEPENDENCE INTEGRITY™
Independence Integrity™
The SAFECHAIN™ Independence Integrity™ (INDEP-001) establishes the governance standard for identifying, declaring and managing conflicts of interest across justice, safeguarding, regulatory and organisational decision-making.
The Framework recognises that independence is not a personal virtue individuals either possess or lack, but a structural condition organisations are responsible for building and protecting. A conflict of interest can distort judgement without any dishonesty on the part of the person affected, which is precisely why self-assessment alone can never be relied upon to identify it. Where independence cannot be demonstrated, even a genuinely fair decision loses the confidence it depends on.
By integrating mandatory declaration, independent (not self-assessed) recusal decisions, active management of perceived as well as actual conflicts, structural distance by default, and documented evidence of independence into a single governance framework, the SAFECHAIN™ Independence Integrity™ enables organisations to protect the impartiality of every significant decision and demonstrate — rather than simply assert — that the people making them had no undisclosed stake in the outcome.
