Framework Purpose
Trauma-Informed Digital Design™ establishes a governance framework for designing digital technologies, services and user experiences that recognise the impact of trauma, reduce the risk of re-traumatisation and support safety, dignity, participation and recovery.
The framework recognises that digital environments are not neutral. The design of technology can either support individuals experiencing vulnerability or unintentionally reinforce barriers, distress and exclusion.
Framework Definition
Trauma-Informed Digital Design™ is the intentional application of trauma-informed principles throughout the planning, design, development, implementation and governance of digital systems to ensure they are safe, accessible, respectful and responsive to the needs of individuals affected by trauma.
