An Evening to Stand for Change
On 30 October 2026, guests will gather in Winchester for the SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade Gala, an evening dedicated to raising awareness, strengthening safeguarding systems, and honouring those whose voices have too often gone unheard.
The event will bring together professionals, policymakers, advocates, artists, and members of the public who share a common belief:
Victims of abuse and injustice deserve to be seen, heard, and protected.
The masquerade theme symbolises the hidden nature of abuse and the collective responsibility society holds in bringing truth into the light.
Behind every mask is a story.
And together, we create a space where those stories are acknowledged with dignity, reflection, and purpose.
Why This Event Matters
Across many societies, the law has begun to recognise domestic abuse more clearly than ever before.
In the United Kingdom, legislation such as the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 has strengthened recognition of coercive and controlling behaviour.
Yet for many survivors, navigating institutional systems remains profoundly challenging.
Police, courts, healthcare providers, housing authorities, and charities often work with the best intentions — but not always with the coordination needed to recognise patterns of harm.
When systems do not communicate effectively, critical signals can be missed.
SAFECHAIN™ was created to explore how safeguarding systems can evolve so that no victim’s story is lost between institutions.
The SAFECHAIN™ Masquerade Gala offers a moment to bring people together around that shared purpose.
