THE SAFECHAIN™ ACCREDITATION MARK

SAFECHAIN™ Quality Standard

The SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation Mark

A standard born from lived experience, built on legal understanding, and grounded in the science of trauma.

When I began building SAFECHAIN™, I looked for an external accreditation body that could validate the professional education I was creating. What I found was a landscape of generic compliance frameworks — tick-box courses, borrowed benchmarks, standards designed for organisations rather than for people who have survived the systems those organisations operate within.

None of them were built for this. None of them understood what it means to sit across a table from a professional who has never experienced economic abuse — and to need that professional to truly see you.

So I built my own standard. Not out of convenience, and not to avoid external scrutiny — but because the quality of trauma-informed education cannot be measured by a framework that has never been trauma-informed itself.

"The SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation Mark exists because survivors deserve professionals who understand — not professionals who have simply completed a module."

The SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation Mark rests on three foundations that no external body can replicate, because they are inseparable from the person who created this framework:

I — Lived Experience This standard was not written in a classroom or a boardroom. It was forged through direct, first-hand experience of economic abuse, coercive control, and the failures of the legal and financial systems that are meant to protect survivors.

II — Education & Expertise SAFECHAIN™ is built on a rigorous postgraduate understanding of trauma, psychology, financial literacy, and systemic injustice. The Accreditation Mark reflects an academic and intellectual standard that is held to the highest level of scrutiny.

III — Legal Understanding As a litigant in person who has navigated complex family financial proceedings, I bring a legal literacy that is practical, procedural, and painfully real. The courses carrying this Mark equip professionals with the legal context they need to act, not just to empathise.

What the SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation Mark means

The course or programme has been designed, reviewed, and approved by Samantha Avril-Andreassen FRSA — founder of SAFECHAIN™ and author of Unmasking Justice.

The content is grounded in trauma-informed principles drawn from lived experience, not adapted from generic safeguarding frameworks.

The programme addresses economic abuse as a distinct and serious form of harm — not as a footnote to physical or emotional abuse.

Legal context is embedded throughout — equipping professionals to understand financial remedy proceedings, coercive control legislation, and the particular vulnerabilities of litigants in person.

The standard requires genuine engagement and reflection — not passive completion.

The programme meets the SAFECHAIN™ framework's own published criteria for professional education in trauma-informed justice.

You may ask why this standard is not externally accredited by a recognised professional body. It is a fair question and one I answer directly.

External accreditation bodies charge thousands of pounds per course to assess content they have no specialist knowledge of. They apply generic quality frameworks to profoundly specialist material. In a field as specific and as sensitive as trauma-informed economic abuse education, a borrowed benchmark does not make a course better — it makes it more expensive. The cost of that accreditation would ultimately fall on the survivors and professionals the course is designed to serve, or it would price the courses out of reach entirely.

The SAFECHAIN™ Accreditation Mark is my commitment to quality. It is not a purchased certificate. It is a promise — backed by everything I have lived, studied, and built — that the education carrying this mark will make a genuine difference to the professionals who complete it, and to the survivors those professionals serve.

"I did not survive the system to replicate it. I built something better."
